Together we can save nature

From now until 2030, we'll be focusing on some ambitious plans and targets – working together with you to collectively change the fate of nature.

  • We aim to double our land holding by 2030.
  • We'll continue to focus on our priority list of species and help nurture their recovery, through a combination of research, partnerships, landscape-scale conservation and policy work.
  • Our work will continue to reach far beyond the UK, working with our partners to help protect habitats and save endangered birds and wildlife overseas.

Supporting our programmes that positively impact nature

Saving native wildlife on Orkney

Located 10 miles off mainland Scotland, Orkney has long been a haven for threatened species like Curlews, Hen Harriers and Orkney Voles, which are found nowhere else on Earth.

The arrival of an invasive species is putting all of this at risk though. Stoats have been found on five of Orkney’s 70 islands, posing a major threat to wildlife that has not adapted to live alongside these prolific hunters. Since 2019 we have been working on the world’s largest ever Stoat eradication attempt, to stop them before they reach the other islands.

The project is ambitious but vital, and we’ve already shown that wildlife is bouncing back. Together we can restore the balance of nature on Orkney, before it’s too late.

Growing Geltsdale

Geltsdale is a place I love and I was delighted to help the Appeal. It is a spectacular, wild, peaceful place providing many different habitats for so much wildlife, including many threatened species. I am impressed by the way Geltsdale is managed both for wildlife and to combat Climate Change. The steps taken to expand the blanket bogs (which are so effective at carbon capture) are great to see. I look forward to spending many more happy hours on the Reserve and seeing how it continues to develop and the wildlife thrives.

Albatross Task Force

"We have been fortunate enough to see these beautiful birds in the wild so when we heard through the RSPB about the aim to cut the fatalities that occur around fishing vessels, we were keen to help. Since we began supporting this project, we’ve had regular updates and have seen how our support is making a difference. We feel we have personally been able to help drive progress in this area and our involvement has been very worthwhile."
