What nature needs

In August 2020 the Westminster Government consulted on plans for the most radical changes to the planning system in England since 1947. The RSPB raised concerns with the Government that the proposals would weaken protection for wildlife. We offered practical suggestions about how the planning system should address the nature and climate emergency.

What’s next

We’re expecting plans for changes to the planning system to be revealed soon in documents for the drafts of new sets of laws to govern the planning system in England. We will challenge any proposals that threaten nature and insist upon a planning system that works for wildlife.
