Work is underway on a new RSPB visitor centre, as part of the planned 250-acre Kingsbrook Meadows nature park in Aylesbury.

The start of construction comes as artist’s impressions of the new visitor centre have been released for the first time, offering a glimpse of how the facility will look when it opens to the public in spring 2028.
Delivered through a decade long partnership between Barratt David Wilson North Thames, the RSPB and Buckinghamshire Council, Kingsbrook Meadows demonstrates how new homes and investment in nature can go hand in hand to create places where both people and wildlife can thrive.
Kingsbrook Meadows will eventually extend to 250 acres – equivalent to approximately 140 full-size football pitches – alongside the award-winning Kingsbrook development.
Representatives from Barratt David Wilson North Thames, the RSPB and Buckinghamshire Council came together to mark the start of construction and celebrate the latest progress at Kingsbrook Meadows. They were joined by key local stakeholders, including Kingsbrook, Bierton and Hulcott Parish Council and representatives from Kingsbrook View Primary Academy.
Over time, areas that are currently open fields will be transformed into a diverse mosaic of habitats and visitor spaces, including wetlands, meadows, pools, woodland and gardens. As Kingsbrook Meadows develops, it will create and enhance important habitats for local wildlife, while also helping to reduce recreational pressure on protected natural areas, including Ashridge Commons and Woods. Visitors will be able to experience this transformation as it takes place, watching the landscape develop with opportunities to get involved along the way.
When fully open in 2028, Kingsbrook Meadows will become a major visitor attraction for the local community and visitors from further afield. The new visitor centre and café (opening in 2028) will provide a focal point for the site, alongside walking trails, a wild play area and opportunities to experience nature throughout the year.
