The rules

The RSPB Weekly Lottery is a fun way to support the RSPB abd the vital work we do. Here you can find out about the terms & conditions of playing.

  1. Underage gambling is an offence and it is illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to purchase tickets or enter a lottery. Applications for the RSPB Weekly Lottery must be from players aged 18 years old or over. No person under the age of 18 is allowed to enter the RSPB Weekly Lottery. Players will be asked to provide their date of birth and to confirm they are 18 or over when signing-up to enter via the website or telephone. RSPB reserves the right to require proof of identity and age.

  2. Any person who has entered the RSPB Weekly Lottery who is under 18 years old will automatically forfeit any prize and will be excluded from future entries. If a child under 18 years old is found to have participated in a lottery after the lottery draw has taken place, then a full refund will be made to that person and any prizes which might otherwise have been due to them will not be paid out. If prizes have already been paid out, all reasonable attempts will be made to recover them.
  3. The RSPB reserves the right without notice or reason to cancel or refuse entry to the raffle. The RSPB decision on all matters affecting the draw is final and legally binding. No correspondence regarding the results of the draw will be entered into.

  4. The draw will take place every Friday except when a Friday falls on a Bank Holiday, then the draw will take place on the next working day.

  5. Winners notification letters will be dispatched within 7 days post draw. A list of winning ticket numbers will be published on the RSPB website at www.rspb.org.uk/helping-nature/support-the-rspb/rspb-lottery/winners as soon as possible on a working day after the draw.

  6. The cost of each entry (Chance) is £1. Players can take a maximum of 7 chances and payment must be received (and cleared) before entry to the weekly draw.

  7. The rollover jackpot runs between December and December for a maximum of 52 weeks. The rollover jackpot, if not won, will increase by £155 each week. If the rollover is won, the rollover value will revert to £155. If nobody wins the rollover prize before the first week of December each calendar year the prize fund will be £8,060. Our computer will then run the rollover draw until one lucky lottery player wins the rollover prize.

  8. In the calendar year 2025, RSPB received £274,452 in Lottery ticket sales. 47% of money raised by the RSPB Lottery went directly towards supporting the RSPB’s work with wildlife, including managing and expanding our nature reserves. 35% was used for prizes and the rest was reinvested into our gaming fundraising activities, enabling us to raise more money in the long term.

  9. In the calendar year 2025, the estimated chance of a ticket winning a prize in the RSPB Weekly Lottery was approximately 1 in 151 (based on the total number of tickets sold and the total number of available prizes). Actual figures may vary.

  10. The RSPB reserves the right to publish the names of winners.

  11. There are 35 prizes each week (36 if there is a rollover prize-winner). The first prize is £1,000, the second prize is £250, there are three prizes of £100, and there are 30 prizes of £10.

  12. The RSPB accepts no liability for loss, theft or delay due to post or for any interest for late items. The RSPB is not liable for any late bank payments.

  13. The draws are conducted by our External Lottery Manager, The Woods Group Limited trading as Woods Valldata, using a random number generator, tested and approved by a Gambling Commission certified test house. Prizes will be drawn in order – the first prize will be drawn first, second prize second, third prizes next and so on until all prizes have been allocated.

  14. RSPB staff, trustees and their families are excluded from playing all RSPB raffles and lotteries. Volunteers may participate in raffles and lotteries unless they are involved in the administration of that raffle/lottery in which they must be excluded. This applies to the volunteers' immediate family. Woods Valldata employees are excluded from playing the RSPB Weekly Lottery.

  15. No detail in the application may be changed in any way once it has been submitted except for change of address.

  16. The RSPB Weekly Lottery is open to residents of England, Wales and Scotland. No entrants are allowed from Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
