We are celebrating the launch of a new Nature and Wellbeing Calendar, a practical resource designed to help workplaces across Wales improve health and wellbeing by making it easier for people to connect with nature throughout the year.

The calendar was co-designed by RSPB Cymru and Healthy Working Wales following workshops with employers, ensuring the activities are simple, accessible and relevant to busy working lives. Whether it's taking a moment to notice birdsong, exploring a nearby green space or simply looking out of a window to observe the changing seasons, the calendar encourages people to find meaningful ways to experience nature wherever they work.

Small actions, big benefits

Research consistently shows that spending time connecting with nature can have significant benefits for our wellbeing. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, increase confidence and self-esteem, encourage relaxation, improve sleep quality and support better physical health. Best of all, connecting with nature doesn't require specialist skills or equipment – it's free, inclusive and can be enjoyed almost anywhere.

A calendar for every workplace

The monthly calendar offers practical, evidence-based activities inspired by the internationally recognised Pathways to Nature Connection, encouraging people to engage with nature through their senses, appreciate its beauty, build emotional connections, discover meaning in the natural world and show compassion for the environment.

The resource also includes links to additional information, ideas for helping nature, and free nature identification apps, enabling people to continue their nature journey beyond the suggested monthly activities.

Working together for wellbeing

The launch marks an exciting collaboration between RSPB Cymru and Healthy Working Wales, bringing together expertise in nature and workplace wellbeing to support healthier working environments across Wales.

By helping people notice and enjoy the nature around them – whether that's in parks, gardens, streets, on buildings or during a lunch break – the calendar aims to make everyday moments in nature part of working life, benefiting both people and the natural world.
