Live Osprey webcam at Loch Garten
Nestled in the Abernethy Forest is RSPB Loch Garten, home to a world-famous Osprey nest. In the early 20th century, Ospreys became extinct in the UK following many years of persecution and egg-collecting. In 1954, a pair of Scandinavian birds set up a nest by the loch - and so the recolonisation of these birds began.
Take a look at our camera to catch up with Ospreys as they build bonds, squabble and feast on fish. You might even catch a glimpse of Redstarts, Chaffinches and more of the surrounding Caledonian pine forest wildlife.
Swift nest camera
Our popular live Swift nest camera returns for another season. Follow the progress of Mart and Martha II as they do their best to raise another brood of swiftlings.
Goldeneye nest
At RSPB Loch Garten breeds a charming diving duck - the Goldeneye.
Unlike most ducks, Goldeneyes nest in tree cavities, or in this case, a purpose built nest box. With cameras inside and out, you can follow their journey through the breeding season. The female lays a clutch of around 6–12 eggs, waiting until the clutch is complete before incubating them all at once, ensuring they hatch together.
If you're visiting the reserve, keep your eyes on the loch and look out for nest boxes around Loch Mallachie.
